DANVILLE — Speeding is never a good idea but speeding and deliberately crashing into a police officer makes matters worse. The suspect involved faces three charges following a collision with a motorcycle cop attempting to make a traffic stop. The officer involved sustained minor injuries.

On August 9 shortly after 1:30 p.m. a black sedan was observed speeding on Diablo Road, near Ackerman Drive. The officer attempted to stop the driver who allegedly tried twice to hit the officer’s motorcycle.

As the officer pursued the suspect along Diablo Road, the suspect’s car and police motorcycle collided near Alamatos Drive. This collision is believed to have been deliberate and the suspect kept going.

The law caught up with him approximately 90 minutes later. The suspect was located about 9 miles away, driving into Las Trampas Regional Wilderness Park.

Ohlson was taken into custody on the 18000 block of Bollinger Canyon Road, north of Holly Court in San Ramon.

For his actions, Ohlson was transported and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility at 7:02 p.m. Ohlson remains in custody at the county lockup in lieu of $50,000 bond.Ohlson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon (his car) to cause bodily injury of the officer.
