Accidental shooting claims younger brother's life

ANTIOCH – A man arrested for shooting and killing his younger brother Saturday is released on bail.

George Enriquez, 41, visited the home of his brother located on Cambridge Drive, to show a newly purchased firearm. While the men were looking at the gun, the gun went off striking and killing Enriquez’s 36-six-year-old brother.

Enriquez later called the Antioch Police Department.

“It appears that the 36-year-old came to his brother’s home to show him a newly obtained gun. While both brothers were looking at the gun, it went off,” according to Lieutenant Diane Aguinaga of the Antioch Police Department.

Enriquez was arrested Saturday for manslaughter and illegal possession of an assault weapon charges, but later released on bail Sunday.

The suspect is cooperating with police and shooting is still being investigated.
