WALNUT CREEK – Nicholas Daigle, 22, was arrested September 7th at his home without incident by detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff on several charges, including lewd conduct.

His arrest follows an incident last month in Alamo, an unincorporated suburb east of San Francisco, where a man stalked a woman through the aisles of the Alamo Safeway and masturbated next to her, according to sheriff’s deputies who initially investigated.

The victim confronted the suspect and he quickly fled, shortly after 9 p.m. at the Alamo Plaza Shopping Center. A trail of evidence was recorded by store cameras and was used to solicit leads from the community to find the man.

Surveillance photos and a 12-second video (below) were posted by the Office of the Sheriff on social media to complete an investigation, which generated several telephone and e-mail tips from individuals who identified the man in the video. It showed the suspect leaving the grocery store.

After being interviewed, Daigle was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. He was charged with battery, indecent exposure, sexual battery and engaging in lewd conduct. He has been held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
