“Merced – Charles Clay (30) was arrested and booked for armed robbery. On July 19th, 2021, MPD Officers responded to the Smiley’s Shell station in the 1400 Block of MLK Way for a report of a robbery.

Clay walked into the Smiley’s shell station and took a sandwich and bottled soda from the fridge. As he started to walk out the clerk asked him to pay for the items or put them back. The clerk came around the counter to confront Clay, and Clay pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened the clerk. The clerk backed off and Clay took off walking from the store.”
