A Santa Cruz man has been taken into custody after turning himself in for an unreported homicide, police say.

30-year-old Beau Joseph Paepke reportedly arrived at the Santa Cruz County Jail on the afternoon of Thursday, July 1, telling officers he was there to turn himself in for a murder that had yet to be discovered.

Officers responded to an RV parked on the 100 block of Front Street and found the victim, a 33-year-old woman, deceased inside. Detectives soon arrived at the scene to take over the investigation.

In an interview, Paepke gave a full confession and told officers that the murder had taken place on Monday, June 28, on the 900 block of Soquel Avenue.

Paepke was ultimately booked on suspicion of murder.
