EARLY MORNING TRAFFIC STOP TURNS INTO A GUN AND DRUG SEIZURE

Early Sunday Morning, Deputy Hammell was patrolling the area of Tuolumne City. During his patrol, he spotted a vehicle with several equipment violations. Deputy Hammell conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the driver, 20-year-old Colby Hathcoat of Twain Harte.
Upon being contacted, Hathcoat displayed objective symptoms related to being under the influence of drugs. A search of Hathcoat’s vehicle uncovered drug packaging material, money, a digital scale, and a loaded, short barrel AR-15 rifle. After further questioning, Hathcoat admitted to concealing two grams of cocaine on his person.
Hathcoat was ultimately arrested for being under the influence of drugs, drug sales, and weapons related offenses.
