On January 11th, during the 6PM hour, our Officers were dispatched to the area of S. Washington St. and the intersection of Gold St. for a vehicle versus a pedestrian accident. Officers contacted a male and female who had been struck while crossing the road by a 2005 Dodge Neon. Both pedestrians were later treated at a local hospital for moderate injuries.

During the investigation it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, 41 year old Shawn Harris, was under the influence of alcohol at the time that he was operating the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, Officers located controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

Harris was subsequently arrested for Felony driving under the influence causing injuries, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Harris was later booked at the Tuolumne County Jail on a $25,000 bail
