“On Saturday, June 19th, 2021 at approximately 11:01 AM, Officers with the Redding Police Department were dispatched to the Redding Area Bus Authority (RABA) maintenance facility located on the 3300 block of South Market Street regarding a female trespasser.
The female, later identified as Savannah Kay Challe 23 years, had reportedly broken into a parked bus and was refusing to leave the facility. As officers initiated their response, they received updated information that Challe had armed herself with a knife and was threatening staff members.
When Officers arrived at the scene, they were able to make contact with Challe who was yelling and uncooperative. Offices were able to negotiate with the female and safely take her into custody.
Challe was found in possession of a knife she had concealed on her person. She was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail for criminal threats, brandishing a deadly weapon, elder abuse, trespassing and a probation violation.
Officers with the Redding Police Department are no stranger to Challe. Since January of 2021, she has generated over forty calls for service and been arrested more than twenty times. She is currently on Shasta County Probation for a weapon offense. In May, she jumped on top of a marked Redding Police Patrol vehicle and caused significant damage to the roof.”
