Butte County: Man found sleeping in his truck suspected of manufacturing firearms

A Magalia man has been arrested after deputies found him sleeping in his truck, which in turn led to the discovery of numerous firearms and components, among other items, in his possession.

On May 9, deputies on patrol in the Grinnell Court area noticed 37-year-old Micah Metzker asleep in a parked vehicle. After learning Metzker was on Post-Release Community Supervision, deputies searched the vehicle and reportedly turned up two handguns, as well as firearm components and other tools used to make firearms. Deputies also found ammunition, narcotics paraphernalia, and heroin.

Metzker was ultimately arrested without incident.

Deputies later also searched his home, per his PRCS status, and discovered AR-15 components, ammunition, and further evidence that Metzker had been making firearms.

Metzker was booked at the Butte County Jail on suspicion of prohibited person in possession of firearms and ammunition, violation of Post-Release Community Supervision, and possession of a narcotic.
