Originally published as a City of Chico press release – 

“On 10/15/2021 at approximately 2015 hours Chico Police officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on E. 16th St. near Laurel St. When officers arrived they located a compact car, with severe front-end damage, in a yard near the intersection.  In addition, a large utility dump trailer, originally parked on the shoulder, was struck by the car and pushed out into the roadway.

Officers contacted the driver, Andrew Anderson, who was uninjured and initiated a DUI investigation based on Anderson’s objective signs of intoxication. Anderson was ultimately arrested for DUI with a blood alcohol content over .30 %.In addition to the DUI, Anderson had his two juvenile children in the vehicle with him at the time of the collision. Both sustained minor injuries. In the vehicle’s passenger compartment was a functioning 12-gauge shotgun. Further investigation determined Anderson is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a felony conviction and was out on bail for a similar charge, felon in possession of a firearm, in Lake County.

Anderson was booked into Butte County Jail for driving under the influence, child endangerment, felon in possession of a firearm, and for committing another felony while out on bail for a felony.”
