Apple Valley Man Arrested for Carjacking

A 28-year-old man from Apple Valley has been arrested for carjacking.

The suspect, Amit Kamar Sharma, reportedly knew the victim, a 49-year-old man, also an Apple Valley resident.  The victim was giving Sharma and lift to Lucerne Valley on Saturday, April 24, 2020, when Sharma attempted to stab him.  “After dropping the victim off at home, Sharma stole the victim’s car,” states the release.

Two days later, at about 1:30 PM, the victim flagged down Apple Valley Police Deputy Kent Watson as he was driving in Lucerne Valley near Foothill Road and High Road.  After the victim reported the carjacking, Deputy Kent wrote up an arrest warrant for Sharma.

That night, at about 11:30 PM, Sharma was found and arrested by Victorville police.  He was charged with carjacking and booked into High Desert Detention Center on $250,000 bail and was scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on April 28th.
