Man Arrested After 2 Carjacking Attempts in Rancho Cucamonga

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Rancho Cucamonga after two bizarre incidents of attempted carjacking.

At about 8 AM on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, suspect Rakid Hill of St. Louis, Missouri, was reportedly walking in the middle of the road near the 13000 Block of Garcia Drive when his first victim approached in her vehicle.  “When the victim slowed down, Hill threw himself across her windshield and broke it,” according to the release.

“Hill rolled off the car and grabbed the handle [of] the driver’s side door and attempted to get inside.”  His attempt was unsuccessful, and the driver drove away quickly before reporting the incident.  Police responded at around 8:08 AM.

Meanwhile, Hill was busy attempting to carjack another vehicle.  The second victim, a male, reported that he was sitting in his parked vehicle when approached by the suspect.  “Hill opened the driver’s side door and asked the victim for a ride to the mountains,” the release states.  “When the victim refused, Hill took his clothes off and sat on the victim’s lap.”  Hill tried to start the car but conceded to get out and get dressed after the victim agreed to give him a lift.

Police arrived to find Hill walking down the street.  He was apprehended and evaluated by Fire Department personnel before being transported to a hospital for medical examination.  Hill was booked into West Valley Detention Center after receiving medical clearance.  His bail was set at $250,000.
