Man Arrested for Murder at Anaheim Homeless Shelter

A 57-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing a man to death at a homeless shelter in Anaheim.

The stabbing took place on the morning of March 14, 2021 at the Salvation Army located at 1455 Salvation Place.  When Anaheim police officers arrived at about 6 AM, they found the victim, 36-year-old Marcos Zavala of Anaheim, “suffering from at least one stab wound,” according to the release.  The suspect, 57-year-old Alvaro Mendoza Sahagun of Anaheim, was present at the scene and arrested for murder.

Zavala was transported to a nearby hospital.  Sadly, he did not survive his injury.

“Detectives are not discussing a motive for the murder,” states the release.  Sahagun was booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility.  His bail was set at $1 million.
