Suspect identified in October 2020 shooting in Lockwood

Monterey County investigators have arrested a man in connection to an October 2020 shooting in Lockwood.

On the evening of October 4, detectives responded to Mee Memorial Hospital in King City where a man was reportedly being treated for a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Joshua Hamilton, stated only that he’d been shot on the 64000 block of Davis Canyon Road and would not elaborate or cooperate any further, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Following several months of interviewing witnesses and serving search warrants, investigators identified the primary suspect as 22-year-old Kyle Shane York of Lockwood.

Investigators and SWAT personnel arrested York at his Paulsen Road home on Wednesday, March 10. He remains housed at the Monterey County Jail on $500,000 bond.
