Motorcyclist with gun and drugs tries to outrun cops
Last night Deputy McKim spotted Jason Shoemaker riding a motorcycle southbound on Highway 1 near Rio Del Mar. Shoemaker has had a significant number of contacts with law enforcement recently and is on PRCS for felony evading and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He pulled quickly into the Deer Park Shopping Center while reaching into his waistband and then took off on the motorcycle by riding on the sidewalk to the back of the complex.
Shoemaker returned a few minutes later on foot after deputies cut off his exits and was detained. He was found to be in possession of narcotics.
Deputy Ramponi and K9 Xena then helped locate a loaded 9mm handgun with a 17 round high-capacity magazine in the bushes next to the area Shoemaker parked the motorcycle.
Shoemaker was arrested for felony evading, being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm while in possession of narcotics, possession of a firearm with the serial number removed, destruction of evidence, and a PRCS flash hold was placed.
