“On February 16, just before 6 A.M., our office received a call of a subject who had started a fire in a hotel room in the 300 block of S. Washington St.

When our officer arrived on scene, he contacted 58-year-old Robert Anson of Sonora. The Officer located burned items in the hotel room, including a lampshade. Luckily the fire was quickly extinguished before our Officer arrived on scene.

A records check of Anson confirmed that he had previous charges of Arson and is included in the Arsonist Registry. Anson was ultimately arrested for Arson and Arson with a prior conviction.

While being transported to the Tuolumne County Jail, Anson began to threaten the arresting officer and telling him that he was going to follow the Officer’s home and burn down his home with his family in it. Anson received an additional charge of threatening a Police Officer.

Anson was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail and is currently being held on a $100,000 bail.”
