NOVATO — A salesman wanted in connection with several instances of indecent exposure was arrested last weekend. The suspect was positively identified by several witnesses at restaurants.

About 9 p.m. February 13, officers were dispatched to the area of Grant Avenue and Fourth Street. Multiple callers reported a man was exposing himself to women near a restaurant.

The suspect drove away from the scene before officers arrived. However, witnesses provided a description of the man and his license plate number. In fact, one witness took a photo of him, and provided it to police.

Within minutes, another caller reported a man was indecently exposing himself to women. This time it was inside a restaurant near Grant and Machin avenues. The description of the suspect matched the descriptions of the suspect in the prior incident.

Officers responded to a Grant Avenue address associated with the suspect’s vehicle registration. They contacted Evan K. Saunders, 56 of Novato, who matched the descriptions of the suspect, and the photo.

While speaking with Saunders, a Novato dispatcher received information that he was a suspect in another jurisdiction for the same behavior. In this case, Saunders was also positively identified by witnesses as the suspect, and by a photo.

For his actions, Saunders was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail, with bond set at $2,500 for his release.

Saunders faces open charges, including indecent exposure after unlawful entry to an occupied building. His next scheduled court date is March 3.
