Rio Linda woman, 66, arrested on suspicion of murder

“At approximately 6:57 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call from the 200 block of W. E Street in Rio Linda. The caller advised that a man, later determined to be the caller’s father, had been shot.

Deputies responded and located a 59-year-old adult male inside the residence that had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. Fire arrived simultaneously and performed life-saving measures for several minutes then pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene, gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses. 66-year-old Grace Ethel Nitz was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for murder. At this time, no further suspects are outstanding. No further information is available.

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
