Man arrested after allegedly leading San Diego County deputies on pursuit in stolen vehicle

San Diego County deputies have arrested a man on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and felony evading, among other charges.

On the afternoon of December 27, patrol deputies were alerted that a stolen vehicle had been seen traveling toward San Marcos. They eventually found the vehicle, unoccupied, in the Target parking lot on Business Park Drive.

Deputies posted up nearby and waited for the driver to return. Sure enough, a man later identified as 23-year-old Dylan Kidd returned to the vehicle and got in. When deputies moved in, he started the car and fled the parking lot, initiating a pursuit.

The pursuit only lasted for about five minutes, coming to an end when Kidd turned onto White Sands Drive — a dead end. At that point he fled from the vehicle on foot, reportedly neglecting to put it in ‘park’ and leaving it it to roll into a resident’s closed garage door.

After a short foot pursuit, Kidd surrendered and allowed himself to be taken in. He was later booked at the Vista Detention Facility.
