A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing another man multiple times during an altercation that Los Banos police say was the result of road rage.

Officers were dispatched to the Rite-Aid parking lot on the 1300 block of East Pacheco Boulevard on Sunday, December 20, where a 9-1-1 caller had reported that a man had been stabbed during an altercation.

Witnesses told police that two vehicles had pulled into the parking lot, where the two drivers had gotten into a verbal altercation that eventually escalated to a physical one. At some point, one of the men — identified as 46-year-old Sean Rigsby of Santa Clara — reportedly drew a knife and stabbed the other man multiple times.

The victim, a 26-year-old Santa Nella man, was treated for his injuries at a Modesto-area hospital and released.

Rigsby was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, but later released after posting bail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
