“On Saturday, December 12th, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Rancho Cordova Police Department, Sacramento Police Department and the California Highway Patrol collaborated enforcement efforts for a scheduled Sideshow event that occurred throughout Sacramento County.
The group of vehicles was in excess of 150 and originated near the Arden Fair Mall. The vehicles travelled to different locations within Sacramento County including Rio Linda, Del Paso Heights, Fair Oaks, Orangevale and Rancho Cordova.
Officers were able to track down and stop the violators as they attempted to leave different locations. The joint effort of the law enforcement agencies yielded 53 total vehicle code citations, 23 vehicle tows with impounds and 2 pursuits with arrests.
The Rancho Cordova Police Department had 12 of those tows and 21 cites as well as an arrest for an unrelated driving under the influence.
The majority of the countywide tows were for reckless driving which have a mandatory 30 day impound and for which owners are responsible for the towing, impound, and storage fees.
Sacramento County Regional Law Enforcement Agencies are committed to 100% enforcement and want to share with our community the extreme dangers to participants and observers of illegal sideshows.”
