Yolo County: Former after-school teacher convicted of trying to lure 12-year-old for sex

A West Sacramento man has been convicted of attempting to lure a 12-year-old girl for sex.

According to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, on January 19 of this year, 29-year-old Taylor Lewis Gholar began communicating with the victim via Instagram Direct Message, reportedly propositioning her for sex, asking for pornographic photos, and even sending one of himself.

The victim alerted her parents, who in turn alerted the police. Police then began a sting operation by posing as the victim on her IG account and maintaining contact with Gholar.

The next morning, officers, still posing as the victim, arranged to meet Gholar for sex at an undisclosed location in West Sac. When Gholar arrived, officers were waiting and took him into custody, finding condoms on him in the process.

Authorities say Gholar, a former after-school teacher, first met the victim when she was two years old. He was her teacher for the next three years until she completed the 5th Grade and, after that, had no contact with her until she was 12 and in 7th grade.

On Thursday, October 15, Gholar was found guilty by a Yolo County Jury. He faces up to four years in state prison.
