17 arrested for solicitation of prostitution

For fifteen days in June the Merced Police Department’s DART officers were looking online at prostitution ads.

A total of 17 male suspects contacted the advertisements, thinking they were arranging hook-ups.

Via text messages and phone calls, offers were made to pay for sexual services.

However, when the suspects arrived, they were arrested for solicitation of prostitution and then released with citations (“because of the state’s current no-bail policy for misdemeanor offenses”).

Sgt. Solis stated, “This operation hopefully sends a message that these acts will not be tolerated in our city”

Arrested Persons: Alla Abuziadeh, Michael Najera, Frederick Polanco, Jared Soberanis-Trujillo, Rosendo Hernandez, Jose Aviles, Daniel Salas-Nunez, Pascual Rodriguez-Leon, Angel Ochoa-Amezcua, Jesus Diaz, Daranpop Suppatkul, Stephen Grossman, Arturo Padilla, John Woolum, Eric Whitley, Siddharth Pillai, Salvador Sanchez.
