Merced shooting suspect arrested in Stockton

The Merced Police Department recently arrested a suspect in a June 21 shooting –

On June 21, 2020 at 10:16 P.M., the Merced Police Department responded to the area of w. 11th st & Canal st. for a report of a subject who had been shot. Officers located the victim a short distance away being transported by family to the hospital.

The victim, a 50-year-old male, was trying to remove the suspect identified as Sergio Jesus Munos from the property after a domestic dispute. Munos then retrieved a handgun and shot the victim. Through interviews with witnesses, it was determined that Munos was from the Stockton area.

Stockton Police Department located Munos at his residence where he was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant, as well as the attempted homicide. He was later booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
