Search Warrant Leads to Arrest of Merced County Man on Multiple Firearms Charges

MERCED, CA — A Merced County man was arrested after authorities carried out a search warrant related to the alleged prohibited possession of firearms.

According to a press release by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, the Detectives Bureau, with assistance from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, served a search warrant at a home on the 3800 block of Perez Drive on Thursday, April 16.

During the search, investigators allegedly found a Smith & Wesson MP Shield handgun, a GSG-16 rifle, and an FMK handgun.

Investigators reportedly also confiscated four grams of suspected cocaine and eight grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

The suspect in the case, identified as 29-year-old Elias Camarillo, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition.

Camarillo was booked into the Merced County jail, according to the sheriff’s office.
