The Petaluma Police Department recently had their share of excitement in pursuing and catching a stolen vehicle suspect on their streets –

“Last night officers located a subject in a stolen vehicle on Petaluma Blvd N. The suspect fled in the vehicle towards the city of Cotati. Officers deployed spike strips and were able to spikes the vehicles tires but still the suspect did not stop.

@cotatipolicedepartment officers were alerted the suspect was traveling their way and they located the vehicle near downtown and initiated a pursuit.

With additional assistance from @sonomasheriff the pursuit was ended after a PIT maneuver was used. The suspect continued to refuse to exit the vehicle and was eventually taken into custody with the assistance of a K9. The suspect was identified as Saul Valladares and he was charged with vehicle theft, felony evading, resisting arrest, and additional charges.

Thank you to all of our allied partners for your assistance and for yet another example of how our teamwork continues to make Sonoma County safer each and every shift.
