Suspected pipe bomb found during traffic stop in Stockton

Two people have been arrested after Stockton Police reportedly located a pipe bomb in their vehicle.

Around 2:30 AM on Wednesday, May 6, officers were sent out to investigate reports of several people driving erratically and brandishing guns from their vehicles. An officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of one of them and pulled over the driver in the area of March Lane and Pacific Avenue.

Police say they ended up finding a loaded gun, suspected narcotics, and a possible explosive device that appeared to be a pipe bomb. Bomb Squad responded to the scene and successfully dismantled the device.

The vehicle’s two occupants were also arrested — Marcelino Alvarez (31) on suspicion of weapons, narcotics, possession of a destructive device, gang-related and parole charges; and Leticia Desmond (34) on suspicion of possession of a destructive device and narcotics charges.
