Man breaks victim’s jaw, now faces jail

HANFORD – The 8800 block of Carolyn Street was the scene on Friday night April 10 of an assault.

Deputies arrived on scene and found the 39-year-old male victim lying in the road. The victim reported that two male suspects confronted and attacked him.

The victim’s jaw had been “broken in multiple places, requiring for his jaw to be wired shut.”

The investigation led to 40-year-old Lawrence Andrews as the suspect in the attack. Andrews already had an active warrant out for his arrest for assault and public intoxication.

On Thursday afternoon April 16, as deputies “attempted to contact” Andrews at a residence in the 8500 block of Curtis Street, the suspect ran out the back, saw detectives, ran back inside, and holed up for a while.

The SWAT and RT (Crisis Response Team) arrived, armed with a warrant for the residence. eventually, “CRT members were able to talk Andrews into surrendering.”

The suspect was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily injury and delaying/obstructing a peace officer, as well as for two confirmed warrants.
