LAFAYETTE—Three bank robberies in Contra Costa County have been linked to one man. The suspect identified as Brendan Gray, 41 of Alamo, was taken into custody by Lafayette and Walnut Creek police last week.

Over a period of three weeks, three separate Wells Fargo Bank branches were robbed. The first bank robbery occurred in Walnut Creek on February 1. It was followed by robberies in Orinda on February 12, and in Lafayette on February 19.

A multi-agency investigation was conducted by Lafayette, Walnut Creek and Danville police, and the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the third robbery, investigators linked the string of crimes to one suspect. It seems the culprit used the same car to drive to each of the bank robberies.

Based on the suspect’s car and other evidence, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Gray. Without further incident, he was arrested at his residence in Alamo on February 20 at 3:35 p.m.

Gray was booked on three counts of first-degree robbery. He remains in custody at the West County Detention Facility in lieu of $300,000 bond.

The investigation of these bank robberies is still ongoing. Anyone with information about these cases can call Lafayette police Sgt. Thomas Rossberg at 925-283-3680, or email tross@so.ccounty.us.
