North Dakota man arrested on firearm charges in Vacaville

From the official Vacaville Police Department Facebook page:

“Tonight an officer stopped a car near I-80 and Leisure Town Road. During the initial conversation with the occupants of the vehicle, a second officer arrived on scene and was able to see a handgun in plain view between the driver’s seat & center console. Seeing that the handgun was within reach of the driver, that officer quickly called for extra units.

Thankfully, the driver of the vehicle, Jason Gourley (23, Burlington, ND) complied with the officers’ commands and was safely detained. The handgun was unregistered and loaded with a full magazine. Mr. Gourley was ultimately arrested and transported to the Solano County Jail and booked for various firearm charges.

We know at times, it may appear as though there are a lot of officers present where just one car is pulled over. However incidents like this are a reminder that we simply never know what we may encounter when we come into contact with others. We are grateful for the compliance shown during this stop, which allowed us to resolve this incident quickly and safely.”
