Deputies of the Wasco Substation were near Broadway Avenue and 5th Street when they spotted a vehicle driving erratically.

Before they could pull over the driver, they lost sight of the vehicle.

However, they found it shortly after, abandoned where it had collided against a residential fence in the 1300 block of 5th Street.

The driver and passenger were found fleeing the area on foot and after a short foot chase, deputies apprehended both suspects – 18-year old Daniel Malanche and a 16-year old male juvenile.

A search of the vehicle procured marijuana and evidence marijuana sales. The car itself had been stolen from Bakersfield.

The minor was booked into Juvenile Hall for his participation. Malanche was booked into Kern County Jail for grand theft auto, possession of a stolen vehicle, gang participation, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of an imitation firearm, and resisting or delaying a peace officer.
