Man Arrested in Connection with Stolen Antique Oil Signs

OILDALE — Detectives have arrested a 35-year-old Oildale man who is accused of stealing oil signs and selling them online.  After several reports in the Bakersfield area, investigators from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit began an investigation into the ongoing theft of stolen antique oil well signs that were eventually traced to an individual who was selling them on eBay.

After enough cause was established, a search warrant was issued and served at a residence in the 700 block of Bryce Street in an Oildale neighborhood of north Bakersfield.
According to a sheriff’s department news release, detectives found a total of 266 stolen signs worth $30,000 at the residence.
The suspect, Dustin Drake, was arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility on multiple charges including possession of stolen property.
