Replica firearm prompts district-wide school lockdown in Del Norte County

CRESCENT CITY — Del Norte schools were placed on a district-wide lockdown last week after a report that a student had possibly brought a gun to school.

On October 15, Crescent City PD, Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, and Del Norte County Probation officials contacted the suspect, who was in possession of what turned out to be a replica firearm.

Upon the suspect’s arrest, the lockdown was lifted.

Though the suspect is in custody on an unrelated juvenile arrest warrant, the allegations of brandishing and criminal threats are being investigated.
