McKINLEYVILLE — Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 32-year-old man after reports of a someone shooting at cars with what later turned out to be a pellet gun.

Just after 11 AM on August 8th, deputies arrived on the 1600 block of Sutter Road to find the subject, identified as Tyler Dean Godwin, still at the scene.

Deputies safely detained Godwin and managed to get a hold of the gun, which had no identifying markings and bore a strong resemblance to an actual firearm but was, in fact, a CO2-powered pellet gun.

Other people at the scene told deputies that Godwin had fired at them as well, though there were no reported injuries.

Godwin was then taken into custody on charges related to brandishing a firearm.
