LOLETA — On February 23rd just before 3 PM, County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on Bowie Road after reports of shots fired, where they discovered a juvenile female who reported that two men — known only as Tim and Spookie — had opened fire at her and four of her friends.

She was able to provide a description of the vehicle from which the suspects fired and, fortunately, was not injured, nor were any of her friends.

Additional deputies en route to the scene noticed two individuals driving a vehicle matching the description near Tompkins Hill.

Deputies caught up to the vehicle and initiated a stop at Broadway 76 in Eureka, but the driver hit the gas and a chase began — beginning southward on Highway 101 and ending at EZ Landing, where the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

CHP and Eureka police officers arrived to assist and began a search of the area. It wasn’t long before one of the suspects, 32-year-old Reuben Manuel Perez, was found and arrested.

The second suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Timothy Scott Ramirez, barricaded himself in a mobile home. While initially resistant, he eventually heeded verbal commands to come out and was taken into custody without further incident.

Both suspects have been booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility — Perez on two felony warrants and resisting arrest with bail set at $15,000; Ramirez on a felony warrant, evading a peace officer, resisting arrest, and possession for sale of a controlled substance, no bail.
