Man Beat Punk Rock Drummer to Death and Stole His Car, Arrested at Hospital

A man faces murder charges after allegedly beating a local punk rock drummer to death and stealing his vehicle.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, July 20, 2019, a passerby discovered a man lying dead in a cul-de-sac in the 1500 block of W. Center Street in Anaheim, near the bar where he was last seen alive.

The victim was identified as 48-year-old David Patrick McCabe of Dana Point, who was a well-known punk rock drummer in Orange County.

Anaheim police officers were contacted at nearly 3 AM and concluded that McCabe had been beaten to death, having “suffered injuries consistent with blunt force trauma,” according to the release. His vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Corolla 4 door with California License Plate 6YSH330, was stolen following the murder.

Following police investigation, the murder suspect was located and arrested at a hospital on Wednesday, July 26, 2019. The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Arthur Williams of Santa Ana. Williams was booked into Orange County jail on a first degree murder charge and is being held on a bail of $1 million.

The release stated, “Detectives have confirmed McCabe and Williams were acquaintances, but will not discuss the motive for the crime. Williams’ booking photo will not be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.”

McCabe’s car has not yet been recovered. Police have released a photo of the vehicle. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact police.
