NORTH FORK – On the night of July 6th, a family disturbance occurred at a residence in the 33000 block of Mission Drive. Deputies from the Madera County Sheriff’s Officer were dispatched, and while they were enroute to the location, they received a received a call of multiple shots fired at the same location.

One person had been shot, and arriving deputies saw family members loading him into a vehicle in order to take him to the hospital.

Two individuals at the residence told deputies the name and possible location of the shooter.

46-year-old Robert Eugene Moye Jr. was hiding in the woods nearby.  He was “taken into custody and booked at Madera DOC for first degree murder.”

The scene of the shooting turned out to be “an active marijuana grow and butane oil lab.” Therefore the investigation of this incident continues.

Sadly, the victim, 70-year-old Gaylen Dennis Lee, died before he was taken to the hospital.
