SUSANVILLE – A citizen woke up on June 1st to discover that her 2018 Jeep Renegade, with a gun inside, had been stolen out of a parking lot on Russell Avenue in Susanville.

The vehicle’s owner called and reported the theft to the Susanville Police Department.

Later that same day at 7:00 p.m., the owner then reported that On-Star had contacted her and advised that they had disabled her vehicle in Wendel.

When CHP arrived to the stolen vehicle, the owner was there with it. The Jeep’s owner noted that the handgun was missing.

Around 10:00am an officer with the SPD contacted a male walking on highway 395 who had just dropped a baggie that the officer suspected was drugs. The suspect also had personal items belonging to the owner of the stolen Jeep.

32-year-old Shane Haworth was arrested for drug possession and vehicle theft.

The next day, with a search warrant in hand, deputies and other law enforcement officials entered a home in Standish. There they recovered the stolen weapon. They also arrested 25-year-old Jessica Speed for possession of hypodermic needles and meth. In addition, they arrested 37-year-old James Judlin for possession of a firearm, defacing a firearm and possession of stolen property.
