‘Extensive burglary investigation’ yields two arrests

MODESTO – An investigation by the Modesto Police Department began on April 13th after a series of burglaries occurred at Extra Space Storage at 2101 Sylvan Avenue.

58 storage lockers were broken into during a 47-day period.  The investigation revealed the names of two suspects.  Surveillance cameras were set up as part of the investigation.

The same two suspects were also caught on camera burglarizing storage containers at Church in the City of Lodi.  Officers encountered the pair there and chased them until they were apprehended.

28-year-old Daniel Newman of Stockton and 22-year-old Hector Hernandez of Lodi were arrested for the crimes. Following their arrests, search warrants were executed in an effort to recover the stolen property.

The two suspects face charges for burglary, weapons offenses, possession of stolen property and probation violations.
