Stanislaus County authorities make arrest in 2015 murder

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department has announced the arrest of an individual in connection to a 2015 murder in Denair.

On Tuesday, October 22, the Central Valley Gang Intelligence Task Force (CVGIT), along with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office and Modesto Police Department, served four search warrants at different Modesto locations as part of a follow-up investigation into alleged marijuana manufacturing and sales.

These efforts fell under the larger umbrella of an investigation into the Hell’s Angels and their associates.

Their efforts led to the discovery of a primary suspect in the February 17th, 2015, murder of Stephen Losey — identified as 35-year-old Jeffrey Velthoen.

Additionally, authorities arrested 35-year-old Bradley Botelho of Modesto on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance and being a felony in possession of ammunition.

Lastly, 34-year-old David Thayer was also taken into custody on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.
