PRUNEDALE – On January 20th after 4:00 p.m. a resident called the Prunedale PD to report that his 2018 GMC truck had been stolen from his driveway.

Fortunately, the stolen truck was equipped with OnStar,  and officers were able to track the stolen truck’s whereabouts.

Deputies were soon able to drive to the stolen truck on Maul Oak at Charter Oak Boulevard. When officers located the truck, it was then towing a $100,000 boat as well.

29-year-old John Gonzalez was driving the truck. The suspect also had stolen mail inside of the truck.

Further investigation revealed that Gonzalez had driven a stolen Toyota to a house, where a neighbor called 911, prompting the suspect to go the the house next door and steal the GMC.

As he drove, stealing mail here and there, Gonzalez saw the boat, hooked it up and began to drive away.

Driving away, he struck a gas main and caused $20,000 in damage. The entire neighborhood had to be evacuated until the leak was repaired.

And thus ended John Gonzalez’ criminal adventure.
