CHICO – The green Honda Civic drove erratically at 2:15 a.m. on December 7th. In addition, its license plate was obscured and sported an incorrect registration tab.

All this was enough to get the attention of a Chico PD officer, who tried to stop the vehicle’s driver. A brief vehicle pursuit followed, ended when the Honda crashed into a parked utility trailer.

The driver tried to run away, going through various yards of local residences. During his run, the suspect fell into a backyard pool.

Perhaps this is what finally resulted in the officer catching him at Holly Avenue near 11th Avenue.  28-year-old Patrick-Dowell Rollins was in possession of meth and “was subject to a felony arrest warrant through Post Release Community Supervision probation.”

Rollins was charged with felony evading while driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of probation.
