Chico Man Arrested for Allegedly Threatening Family Members, Elementary School
CHICO, CA — “On 5/2/26, the Chico Police Department learned that 27-year-old Brody Mollison made criminal threats to harm family members and children at a nearby school. Following a preliminary investigation concluding the threats to be credible, Chico Police Detectives prepared a warrant for his arrest.
On 5/3/26, Detectives located Mollison walking near his residence on the 500 block of E. 23rd Street. While attempting to take him into custody, Mollison became verbally and physically resistive and began throwing items at the Detectives while making verbal threats towards them. Mollison fled on foot through several nearby properties and into to the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds, eventually climbing to the second story of the Silver Dollar R/C Raceway. After a Chico Police Crisis Negotiator was dispatched to the fairgrounds for de-escalation efforts, Mollison made threats toward the responding Officers. Throughout this exchange, he wielded a large metal pole, eventually throwing it in the direction of Officers at ground level. No officers were struck by items thrown at them.
Mollison eventually complied and was arrested without further incident. He was later transported to Butte County Jail for the following charges:
• 422(a) PC- Criminal Threats
• 422.3(a) PC- Criminal Threats Against a School
• 69 PC X 2- Resisting an Executive Officer
Chico Police Detectives also requested a bail enhancement based on the nature of the threats.”
