A Butte County man who was already in custody on an unrelated charge has reportedly been connected by DNA evidence to a residential burglary in Oroville.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office, investigating a burglary that occurred in Oroville in March 2021, collected items they believed may contain DNA evidence and utilized the ADNE DNA Instrument, a tool for rapidly processing DNA evidence acquired by the Sheriff’s Office in 2018, to ultimately identify 24-year-old Peter Lor as the primary suspect.

As it so happened, Lor was already in custody on an unrelated charge. After speaking with Lor, investigators went to a a residence on Claremont Drive, where they recovered some of the stolen items.

Lor now faces a felony charge for residential burglary.
