Five Arrests Made in Shooting Deaths of Two People

MODESTO – During the month of October,  37-year-old James Chisum and 58-year-old Sameer Sogol were both shot to death. Since then, detectives have been investigating these crimes.

Investigators determined that the same person or persons was also responsible for an attempted homicide on October 9th on El Pasado and Riverside Avenues.

19-year-old Stephen Tisdale was arrested for these three shootings and charged with murder, gang activity and willful harm to a child.

Four other people were later arrested for their participation in these same crimes. They are –

  • 22-year-old Raymond Zavala, charged with murder, gang activity and willful harm to a child;
  • 26-year-old Mariah Silva, charged with murder and being a felon associated with a gang;
  • 19-year-old Pedro Araiza, charged with murder, gang activity, being a felon associated with a gang and home invasion robbery;
  • 31-year-old Rodrigo Gomez, charged with murder, felon assocaited with a gang home invasion robbery and forearm enhancements.

Investigators are pursuing leads that these suspects are involved in other cases in Stanislaus County
