PETALUMA – A citizen report helped the PPD stop a DUI driver before any other problems arose.

Apparently the report noted the driver “swerving and traveling well under the posted speed limit.” The caller also provided the license plate of the car the alcohol-fueled driver operated.

Officers spotted the vehicle, stopped at a gas station with the driver “attempting to pump gas.” She “displayed obvious signs of intoxication.”

Cynthia Lorenz gave “a poor performance during field sobriety tests.”   This earned her a DUI arrest. In addition, “a subsequent test revealed her blood alcohol content was just under three times the legal limit of .08%.”

The PPD reminds us to use public transportation, taxis, friends, family or ride sharing companies if we drink.

They add that “DUI is very expensive and DMV will suspend driving privileges for up to one year. Bottom line: do not drink and drive.”
