Come to find out, the vehicle had been embezzled from its owner. In addition, the deputy then discovered the two improvised explosive devices.

Consequently authorities towed the vehicle, arrested its occupants and “retained the IEDs for safe disposal.”

28-year-old Amy Clapper and 22-year-old Chance Tolen received these booking charges –

  • possession of paraphernalia(misdemeanor);
  • possession of an explosive near a residence (felony).

The Bomb Squad safely destroyed the devices on June 3 in Susanville, at “a safe disposal location.”
