MILPITAS – The Milpitas Police Department received a call at 8:10 a.m. of a potential car break-in at 447 Great Mall Drive in Milpitas.  According to Milpitas Sergeant Matthew Miller, “On March 29, 2018, at approximately 8:10 a.m., a passerby near the Great Mall of the Bay Area called the Milpitas Police Department about a couple of teenagers trying to break into a car in the parking lot.”

Being unsuccessful and now aware that someone was watching them, both suspects tried to flee the area.

Arriving police officers watched as both suspects fled the scene and exited the area in different directions.

Miller said, “Officers were able to find one of the teenagers, a 16-year-old male, near a gas station and the other teenager, later identified as Felix Hernandez, hiding in a service hallway inside the mall.”

The 18-year-old Hernandez was arrested for burglary, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, resisting arrest, and probation violation.  The 16-year-old suspect was also taken into custody and charged with burglary and resisting arrest.

If anyone has any information about a possible crime or other possible criminal matters may contact the Milpitas Police Department’s Crime Tip Hotline at (408) 586-2500.
