San Jose Police Announce Arrest in December 2018 Homicide

SAN JOSE — The SJPD announced two arrests stemming from a December 2017 Homicide of a San Jose resident.

At first, on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at about 8:47 PM, officers found a deceased 22-year-old Jose Mejia Diaz. The shooting occurred  in the 2500 block of Van Winkle Lane. The two suspects suspected in the shooting had fled the scene. Since then they have remained at large.

The ensuing investigation resulted in the identification of Ruben Rodriguez and Julian Casillas as the suspects in the murder. The pair were already in custody at the Santa Clara County Jail “on unrelated cases.”

In short, authorities have not been able to determine a reason for the shooting.  The duo face a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of first-degree homicide.
