Eight Years for Conviction in Hotel Embezzlement of Over $625,000

LOS ANGELES —  60-year-old Jamal Zoukari faces 8 years in prison for embezzling $625,975 from the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

Zoukari had pleaded no contest to five felony counts including grand theft by embezzlement, computer data fraud, and felony tax evasion.

His crimes occurred over a six-year period, from June of 2009 through December of 2015, when he worked as a controller for the hotel.  A controller is defined as “a person in charge of an organization’s finances.”

Along with his prison sentence, Zoukari has been ordered to repay his former employer and include 10% interest “for each year from the date of loss (June 30, 2017).”
